Wireless Broadband Services

ThinkingWISP wireless broadband project is an exciting new intiative bringing fast broadband to rural areas of Norfolk.

Wireless Broadband is ideal if you don’t have access to ADSL services or the performance of the service in your area is poor and frustratingly slow.

InTouch Systems have installed their 30 metre wireless broadband mast as the starting point for the thinkingWISP rural broadband project for Norfolk.

By using wireless transmission for their broadband, InTouch Systems can ensure that their service does not rely on the infrastructure which causes so many problems for internet users in Norfolk.

InTouch Systems’ premises at 36 Hurricane Way on the Norwich Airport Industrial Estate is the starting point for connectivity and will transmit high speed broadband across the county to Marsham, where it can be received by local businesses and homes within a certain radius.

This is just stage 1 of the project, with the project aiming to supply further communities throughout Norfolk during the next 12 months.

ThinkingWISP has been created by a partnership of Norfolk based organisations, InTouch Systems who designed and installed the wireless network system and Norfolk RCC and AF Affinity who have joined forces to bring fast, reliable broadband connections to rural Norfolk, now!

Nik Snelling of InTouch Systems said “It is scandalous that businesses, communities and households in Norfolk, still can’t get reliable internet services in the 21st Century. So whilst others are just talking about it, we’ve got on and are sorting it!”

As the name suggests, the whole system is based on radio wave transmission. The high speed fibre optic connection at InTouch Systems’ premises sends the signal across to the first thinkingWISP mast near Marsham.

The signal is then picked up by customers in the area from small aerials fixed on to their property, providing a fast, reliable Internet connection.

Although the system relies on line of site, Norfolk is an ideal location for a wireless broadband project due to the flatness of the area and the height of the mast. However InTouch Systems’ will always confirm reception, before carrying out any installation

The thinkingWISP broadband service doesn’t need a landline, so cost savings can be made here. Unlike copper cable the signal doesn’t degrade over distance, so the same high quality service is provided wherever you are in the area.
