ITSwisp Wireless Broadband Services
ITSwisp is the brainchild of us here at InTouch Systems. We have installed a meshed wireless internet system covering large parts of rural Norfolk, known as ITSwisp.
Use of a meshed system is vitally important because if a link fails or becomes congested; an alternate link is automatically selected, ensuring a dynamic, flexible and reliable network.
The ITSwisp broadband network lauched live on 19th November 2012 with sites covering large areas around Norwich, Beccles and Bungay, Fakenham, Holt, Caister, with Wymondham and Attleborough following soon.
However seeing is believing, see the coverage map shown on the right or search for your postcode via the online map at www.itswisp.co.uk.
The area map shows the full extent of the wireless broadband service provided now across Norfolk and Suffolk, directly to residential and business subscribers.
During the coming year we will add local repeater sites to strengthen the wireless signal around certain areas, as well as increasing the range of the existing service.
From each point we will bounce the wireless signal onwards to another transmitter, as part of the process of extending coverage throughout Norfolk.
The flexibility of this system is that repeater sites can be any reasonably tall building in a village or town, where a discrete wireless transmitter can be installed. These can be installed at no charge to the local area with the owner of the site receiving discounted or free internet, depending on the number of subscribers to the site.
Contact the ITSwisp team on 01603 425209 for more details about repeater sites.
Here at InTouch Systems we also designed and maintain the network running the successful thinkingwisp project in the Cawston area of Norfolk, which now provides reliable fast broadband to areas which previously had no access at all.
As the ITSwisp system was fully designed by InTouch Systems’ staff and all our installations are carried out by the same in-house team; we can ensure high standards of quality control throughout.
The main ITSwisp mast is located at our InTouch Systems’ offices in Hurricane Way – Norwich. Here we have a dedicated data centre redundantly cooled with full automatic generator backup, controlling the flow and quality of the ITSwisp broadband service to users.
Steve Temple Director says “we feel our network will be a massive boost providing truly rural broadband throughout Norfolk – bringing a professional reliable dynamic backbone of internet services to people who need it most.”
