A local company Bateman Groundworks needed business connectivity provided to each of their temporary sites. They wanted to have a single secure connection provided, so site workers could access the company network just as if they were working in the office. The sites did not have traditional infrastructure in place to provide connectivity. However, the requirement for connectivity was there as soon as site workers were deployed, therefore from day one.

Within days of the initial order a 4G Pepwave solution was installed by InTouch Systems, bypassing the need for traditional infrastructure. The deployment could even have been within hours, if required.

The business connectivity solution involved setting up a secure virtual private network (VPN) connection, for each of the sites. Workers could log in to the secure Wi-Fi on site which then allowed access to the network seamlessly, just as if they were working in the head office. With a whole site VPN, the instability of multiple individual user VPN connections was avoided.

The network administrator manages the user’s access rights, in the same way as any other business connection. The connection back to head office was encrypted, therefore all normal security network arrangements are kept in place.

A small magnet pole and an omni directional antenna were installed on one of the site containers, 2 cables ran down the side of the container and through to the inside. A Pepwave router was connected, which was setup, configured and tested before going to site. After a short site install period, the site staff have been provided with a robust, fast and secure connection, back to head office.
